Standard forklift fork spacing is typically 4 inches (101.6 mm) between the two forks. It is important to ensure the spacing is consistent and not too wide or too narrow, as this can cause damage to the pallet or the load.

Forklift Types

1. Counterbalance Forklift

Counterbalance forklifts are the most common type of forklift and are typically used indoors in warehouses and factories. They are designed to move large and heavy loads and feature a counterweight that is mounted on the back of the machine to help balance the load. 

2. Reach Forklift

Reach forklifts are designed to maneuver in tight spaces and are often used in retail stores and warehouses. They are equipped with a long telescoping arm that can reach up and over the top of tall racks and shelving units. 

3. Rough Terrain Forklift

Rough terrain forklifts are designed to operate on uneven surfaces, such as gravel or dirt. They are often used in construction sites and outdoor warehouses. They feature large all-terrain tires, a wide wheelbase, and a powerful engine to help them successfully navigate uneven surfaces. 

4. Telescopic Forklift

Telescopic forklifts are designed to lift and move large and heavy objects, such as shipping containers. They feature a boom arm that can extend outwards and upwards to reach objects that are far away. 

5. Sideloader Forklift

A sideloader forklift is a specialized type of counterbalance forklift that is designed to lift and move long, awkward or heavy loads. It is commonly used in warehouses and manufacturing facilities to maneuver materials that would otherwise be difficult to move with a standard counterbalance forklift.

The forklift is equipped with a set of long forks that can be extended to reach long loads, making it ideal for loading and unloading trucks, loading and unloading containers, and maneuvering materials in tight spaces. Sideloader forklifts are typically powered by an internal combustion engine, but they can also be powered electrically.
